There's a real sense of mid 80s grandeur and optimism here, hooks recalling the triumph of the most head over heels of that era's earnest croons. It narrates the longing of unrequited interest. As is her way, cheeky deconstructs the emotion into its most simple parts, gives each its own small pedestal, and sets them all revolving. The result is a fiberoptic music box of sorts, audience seated inside the contraption, blissfully disoriented by the sounds that surround them. Another slice of neon entropy, a glimpse of what is to come on The Star.
